چکیده
Every river gets polluted as it moves from its source to the end. Hence, quality of water requires investigation for usability. In present work 40.69 km stretch Tungabhadra in Davangere district Karnataka, India was chosen testing quality. The samples’ physical, chemical and biological characteristics were tested eight sites each month during pre-monsoon, monsoon post-monsoon seasons 2017 2019. A biochemical oxygen demand-dissolved (BOD-DO) equation estimated using de-oxygenation reaeration constants. results showed that physical parameters within limits usability standards all sampling stations seasons. For first 2.54 River Tungabhadra, demand (BOD) levels categorized class “C”, implying be drinking standards. However, stretch, classified “D”, making unsuitable water. It also shown could maintained “C” if flowed at 6m3/s which can achieved by releasing Tunga Bhadra reservoirs. Moreover, treatment municipal waste before spilling would further reduce BOD levels.

Water Quality Assessment Using Water Quality Indicators and Multivariate Analyses of the Old Brahmaputra River
The study has been carried out to assess surface water quality of Old Brahmaputra River from September 2015 to March 2016. DO, BOD5, COD, pH, EC, Chloride, Alkalinity, and Hardness concentrations in water samples have been found to range within 0.66-2.9 mg/L, 21-138 mg/L, 45-250 mg/L, 7.1-7.8, 185-1080 uS/cm, 10-98 mg/L, 85-197 mg/L, and 84-148 mg/L, respectively.
